The brilliant high school football career of Jerrell Wilkerson continues to fade after a recent brush with the law.

Wilkerson, who at Clark became the city's career high school rushing leader and earned a scholarship to play football at Texas, was arrested by San Antonio police Tuesday evening. He is accused of assaulting and running from officers after he was reportedly caught shoplifting at a Northwest side Walmart, a police report said.

Wilkerson, 23, remains at Bexar County Jail on charges of assaulting a public servant, resisting arrest, theft from $50 to $500 and evading arrest. A judge set bail at $32,500 total.

The 20-year-old Kane and his cousin, James M. Kane, 21, were taken into police custody at about 5 a.m. ET after allegedly punching the driver and taking $15 in fare they had given him after he said he didn't have 20 cents in change, a police report says. Police say the cousins apparently caught a cab from the city's downtown nightclub district at about 4 a.m. Sunday.

Buffalo police spokesman Michael DeGeorge says the cab driver suffered cuts to his face and his glasses were damaged after being struck in the face and head. Both Kanes were charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor counts of theft of services and criminal mischief.

Christopher Kent Parsons, 23, of 610 1/2 W. Second St., Cedar Falls, was arrested today in connection with a break-in to a nearby residence Monday at 610 W. Second St.

Police discovered items from that burglary had been sold at a pawn shop and Parsons allegedly was the one who sold them.

After interrogation and the execution of a search warrant at his residence, he had additional criminal complaints filed against him, including unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of marijuana, two counts of third-degree burglary, second-degree theft and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The fourth-degree criminal mischief case is in connection with an April 26 altercation at a local restaurant. A woman there reported cat litter containing cat feces had been placed on her car and sugar in the automobile’s gas tank.
