Knoblauch - named in the Mitchell Report as a player who used performance-enhancing drugs - took the anti-anxiety medication Xanax and had been drinking heavily Friday night when he hit and choked Stacey Stelmach, according to prosecutors. Knoblauch was charged with assault of a family member. A change in Texas law that took effect Sept.1 makes it a felony to choke a family member, and the former All-Star faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, Harris County Assistant District Attorney Donna Hawkins said. An emergency protective order barring Knoblauch from contacting his wife was also issued. |

A temporary restraining order was issued Monday requiring the star wide receiver to stay at least 500 feet from a woman who alleged he committed "battery causing serious injury" to her at her Florida home on Jan. 6. Moss denied the allegation by Rachelle Washington, which he called "this situation of extortion," and said he was "furious" about it. The restraining order was issued in the Broward County 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida. (Assault and Battery and Restraining order) Washington alleged Moss refused to allow her to seek medical treatment. "She has her own house. She has her own car," Moss said. "So how am I going to deny someone medical attention when you live by yourself and have your own vehicle?" (this is the "other felonies" bust. We don't have a crime for preventing medical treatment) |
