Naked football player tased and arrested for trespassing An Oregon State football player won’t be suiting up this fall. Although, that may be the way he prefers to play. Tyler Patrick Thomas, 19, was dismissed from the football team after he was arrested for trespassing in an area woman’s home. Thing is, this wasn’t your everyday trespass. Thomas was in the 32-year-old woman’s house, naked, and in a three-point stance. You know, the one where football players spread their legs, bend over and place one hand on the ground before launching an opposition play? Um, yes, that one. As you probably guessed, Thomas was drunk when this all went down and the police were not impressed. This was not the Montana native’s first alcohol-related offense (he was cited for underage possession last year), but this one certainly ended much worse. He’s now facing charges for first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest. |

Thanks to the magic of YouTube, the incident (post collapse) was caught on video and broadcast for the world to see. I’ve linked to that video, note it contains male nudity. The officer requested back-up help, and when another officer arrived both went inside Mesa Pizza and took the two players outside. Watkins complied with instructions for a pat search, but Carter refused to put his hands on a wall, and when an officer grabbed his arm attempting to throw him to the ground, Carter spun around. | 2009-10-15 | IrvinSucks | Big East | Small-Time | Crime Link | 22 | Louisville basketball players Jerry Smith and Terrence Jennings each will face only one charge stemming from their involvement in an altercation with off-duty police officers during the weekend.
Clark County (Ind.) prosecuting attorney Steve Stewart said that after reviewing the police report, he has decided to charge the two with a single count each of resisting law enforcement. The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine. Officers needed to strike Jennings twice with a Taser to subdue him. Police said Jennings, 20, also had a low level of alcohol in his system, according to the report. Police said Smith, 22, approached officers after Jennings was placed in handcuffs. Smith, the Cardinals’ team captain, refused to comply with requests to back away and resisted when an officer attempted to restrain him. And this may be the greatest quote of Pitino’s career: "Any time you defy a police officer, it’s serious," Pitino told ESPN.com. "They will be punished and are being punished right now. But no, they will not miss game time." |

Officers noticed that Schmidtke had a "very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath," according to the Terre Haute Police Department’s incident report. Schmidtke then began to run from police who chased him. He continued to flee despite repeated orders to stop or he would be tased. The ISUPD incident report stated that he was apprehended in front of the Sigma Kappa sorority house at the intersection of Seventh and Elm streets. Officer Josh O’Brien of the ISUPD said Schmidtke continued to resist arrest as he tried to handcuff him so the THPD officer "issued a shock to Schmidtke with his taser." The report also stated that Schmidtke "was not hit by any of the probes but did make contact with the Taser electro pulse." He sustained no injuries and denied medical attention. |

| 2008-04-20 | Trailer_Trash | Devil Rays | Small-Time | Crime Link | 11 | Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Al Reyes was shocked with a stun gun and arrested early Friday after police say he fell against a ceramic pot in a bar, got up and picked a fight with a man he thought pushed him.
The reliever apologized to teammates, fans and the entire Rays organization before Friday night’s game against Baltimore, and manager Joe Maddon said the club was not planning any disciplinary action. "I tried to have a good time on my birthday, but I guess it was the worst one," said Reyes, who was in uniform at Tropicana Field and available to pitch against the Orioles. "I just want to apologize again to my teammates, the whole organization ... for what happened last night." Reyes, 0-1 with a 27.00 ERA in two appearances this season, did not take questions. He was treated at the scene for a cut on his nose and was charged with being in a fight that disturbed the peace. Eduardo Mora was charged with battery. Both men were released on their own recognizance. "It’s just one of those unfortunate, isolated incidents. I don’t really believe you’re going to see that happen again with Al," Maddon said. "We’re just going to move beyond it. It’s just unfortunate that it occurred." Witnesses told officers that Reyes, who turned 38 on Thursday, appeared to be intoxicated when he exchanged words with Mora, who punched the 6-foot-1, 240-pound pitcher in the face at the Hyde Park Cafe around 2:30 a.m. A police statement said that when bouncers grabbed Mora, Reyes began spitting blood on patrons and swinging his arms. When the bouncers were unable to control Reyes, a police officer working extra duty at the club intervened, asking Reyes to stop. When the pitcher "continued spitting blood and thrashing about," the officer told Reyes he was going to use his Taser, which knocked Reyes to the ground. He was shocked a second time after not complying with commands to stay down. |
