Citing a source close to the situation, the Miami Herald is reporting that defensive end Steven Wesley has been dismissed from the football program. No specific reason was given for the senior’s dismissal, and a source would not confirm or deny that it was related to academics. Wesley started six games in 2009 and played in a total of eleven. During his career with the Hurricanes, Wesley played in a total of 33 games. While Allen Bailey and Adewale Ojomo will enter summer camp as the starters, Wesley was expected to once again be a part of their line rotation.

The station cited sources that said Georgia president Michael Adams asked for and received Evans’ resignation. Evans was arrested for an alleged DUI Wednesday night. His BMW was seen weaving across traffice lanes according to police reports. Evans was discovered with a pair of red panties between his legs, also according to the report. In the passenger seat was a 28-year-old woman who was not his wife.

Eliza Samudio, 25, disappeared more than a month ago from a hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Samudio was a former girlfriend of footballer Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza, 25 -- known to Brazilian soccer fans simply as Bruno -- who plays in goal for Brazil’s most popular soccer club, Flamengo. Bruno turned himself in to police earlier this week after officers issued a warrant for his arrest, the BBC reported. A teenage cousin of the married soccer star handed evidence over to police that implicated Bruno -- who maintains he has a "clear conscience."

Boise State Football Player Charged with Aggravated Battery BSU Bronco senior safety Jason Robinson, suspended earlier this month for violating team rules, now faces a felony aggravated battery charge. Boise Police say officers were called about 8 p.m. Saturday, February 139th, to a battery that had occurred about 12:30 a.m. that morning at a bar on the 500 block of W. Main Street in downtown Boise. According to Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower, "During the investigation, officers learned the suspect, Robinson, a female, and another male were talking when the victim, an Eagle man in his mid-20's and unknown to the suspect, approached the suspect. According to statements, more words were exchanged and the suspect threw a punch hitting the victim in the jaw." Hightower says the suspect then left the bar.

HORRY COUNTY -- A former Coastal Carolina football player was arrested and charged Thursday with multiple felonies. Tyler Campbell, 24, was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 9:49 a.m. on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and malicious injury to animals or personal property over $1,000 but less than $5,000, according to jail records. Details of the arrest, which was made by Horry County police, were not available. Campbell has not yet had a bond hearing and remains jailed. The 5-foot-7, 170-pound Campbell was a senior for the Chanticleers football team last fall, playing in nine games mostly as a special teams standout. He finished the season with 11 tackles.

"He (the officer) says, ’;Who’s parked in a handicapped parking?’ Jahmar Young was standing there and he was ’that’s me’. He was like comma ’well you need to move it or I’m (the officer) going to write you a citation’ he’s (Young) like f-this f-that," said witness Rickey Dopke. Dopke an NMSU student who witnessed the incident unfold inside the Pic Quick store on Don Roser and East University Avenue said after that everything started get ugly. "He grabbed the police officer and started wrestling on the ground. The cops says, ’I’m going to tase you, I’m going to tase you.’ They start wrestling on the ground a little bit, finally he gets tased. Their is stuff flying all over the store, " said Dopke. Police wouldn’t confirm what happened during the confrontation, but they did tell KFOX that fellow Aggie player Jacoby Patton was also arrested. He’s charged with resisting arrest.

At approximately 2 a.m. May 28, the Clemson Police Department received a report of a reported assault at the intersection of North Clemson and Hillcrest Avenue. According to the report, Cumbie assaulted the victim "by striking him in the face with his fists without his consent." The victim, according to the report, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries including his nose broken in several places, six or seven facial fractures, numerous lacerations in the mouth, a hematoma of the right temple with swelling and bleeding of the brain, strained muscles in the neck and vertebra, two black eyes, a broken tooth, and two other teeth bent back into the gum. According to the report, Cumbie is six inches taller than the victim and outweighs him by 100 pounds. He stands 6-foot-7, 290 pounds. He did confess to striking the victim.

Police say Sheard was in a fight early Sunday and had to be pepper sprayed after he threw the man through the door of La Fond Galleries. Pitt spokesman E.J. Borghetti says Sheard has been suspended from team activities while the athletic department investigates. Sheard was arraigned Sunday on charges including aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Police say charges are possible against the other man. Borghetti declined to comment on Sheard’s behalf.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State junior defensive end Jamie Blatnick has been cited for felony aggravated assault and battery after a fight with a former OSU offensive lineman at a Stillwater bar. Police say witnesses told them Blatnick started the fight early Saturday by hitting Stephen Denning in the face with a beer bottle. Police say Denning was treated at a hospital for a fractured orbital socket. He was cited for misdemeanor assault. No one had been charged as of early Monday. School spokesman Kevin Klintworth says the university is still gathering information and had no comment. Denning last played for the Cowboys in 2008.

Cops claim both Mark’s baby mama and young daughter were seen by paramedics for mild injuries. According to the docs, Mark’s ex claims she was dropping off court-ordered paperwork when Mark showed up and went ballistic. Mark -- who was allegedly violating an order of protection by showing up -- told cops his ex-GF had tried to take his daughter from his arms. The former linebacker is charged with aggravated assault, endangerment, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an educational institution. He was released from jail yesterday.

The 20-year-old caller, Matthew Mangum, said he was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the restaurant as he waited for his friend. He told police the suspect was the friend he had been waiting for, Marcus Carruth, 19. Mangum said he went to Pflugerville High School with Carruth and told KXAN Austin News that Carruth called him Saturday to hang out and grab a bite to eat at McDonald’s.

Charleston police say a 19-year-old quarterback for The Citadel has been charged along with three others in connection with an armed robbery of a man at his home. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Miguel Starks was charged Saturday with armed robbery, first-degree burglary, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis told the paper that former Citadel linebacker 22-year-old Reginald Anthony Rice faces the same charges as Starks.

Also Tuesday, a Pirates player, Robert Mitchell, was arrested in Newark and charged with kidnapping, robbery, burglary and possession of a weapon, according to a law enforcement official in Essex County. Mitchell was accused along with another person of breaking into a house in South Orange, duct-taping eight people and stealing cash and personal items. The police have not identified the other person.

Police arrested Robinson again Nov. 30, after police say he smashed the taillights of the same woman’s car at the East Campus parking deck. Prosecutors dismissed a criminal trespass to property charge, and Robinson pleaded guilty to underage possession of alcohol. A judge sentenced Robinson to an additional six months of probation, ordered him to serve another 30 hours of community service and told him to have no contact with the woman. Richt suspended Robinson for the first two games of the upcoming football season. On Friday, Robinson threw the woman off his bed in UGA’s McWhorter Hall, picked her up and slammed her on the floor, according to the arrest warrant. He surrendered Sunday afternoon at the Clarke County Jail on a simple battery charge, and is held without bail until his bond hearing today.

The 20-year-old caller, Matthew Mangum, said he was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the restaurant as he waited for his friend. He told police the suspect was the friend he had been waiting for, Marcus Carruth, 19. Mangum said he went to Pflugerville High School with Carruth and told KXAN Austin News that Carruth called him Saturday to hang out and grab a bite to eat at McDonald’s.

Bruno turned himself in to police earlier this week after officers issued a warrant for his arrest, the BBC reported. A teenage cousin of the married soccer star handed evidence over to police that implicated Bruno -- who maintains he has a "clear conscience."

Brown's mother, Joyce Brown, told the Associated Press in a phone interview on Monday that Brown was visiting his hometown of Cartersville for her and her husband's 32nd anniversary. She said he had eaten dinner with relatives and then went to a club. She didn't know the name of the club, but the night was not part of the anniversary celebration. She said her son was pulled over for failing to use a turn signal, but believes he was targeted because he was driving a high-priced car and is black. Gooden, 45, was arrested Tuesday in Franklin Lakes at about 8:50 a.m. after crashing into another car along Old Mill Road, Deadspin.com reported today. Gooden was driving his son Dylan to school at the time of the crash, police said. He was also charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, endangering the welfare of a child, DWI with a child passenger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to notify change of address regarding driver's license, police said.

Investigators say he failed a field sobriety test, including standing on one leg, walking and turning, and reciting ABCs. Strickland refused a breathalizer and had the smell of alcohol on his breath.

Stanford this week dismissed guard JJ Hones from the team that went to the NCAA championship game this year. Her infraction? An arrest for DUI, but not just any DUI. Hones was pulled over May 2 for driving a golf cart on campus while under the influence, school spokeswoman Lisa Lapin tells the San Jose Mercury News. Hones, 22, was arrested for reckless driving, evading a campus police officer and resisting arrest. She was booked at Santa Clara County jail at about 4 a.m., and charges are still pending.

CORVALLIS - Oregon State University women’s basketball assistant coach Krista Reinking was cited on May 6 for allegedly driving drunk and crashing a Jeep into the back of a parked vehicle in Philomath. Reinking, 34, was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, resisting arrest and improper use of 911. Oregon State director of athletics Bob De Carolis had this statement Wednesday: "We are aware of this incident and are looking into it." A release Wednesday from the Philomath Police Department stated that police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury at about 2:20 a.m. on May 6. A blue Jeep driven by Reinking had crashed into the back of a parked Chevy Tahoe in the 200 block of North 13th Street. Reinking was the only person in either vehicle. The Tahoe did not sustain major damage. Officers noted that Reinking showed signs of intoxication. She was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Instead of celebrating Family Day at Cleveland Browns Stadium this weekend, the team awoke to answer questions on the arrest of one of it's players. 25-year old Gerard Lawson, vying for a integral role on the teams' return units, was arrested Saturday Night, charged with Driving Under the Influence. The game, which included an 11pm curfew for the losing side, was won by the Brown team 14-6. Lawson was on the losing side but decided to blow of his curfew and head out to Cleveland's Warehouse District. Lawson was pulled over in the area after police officers observed him hit a parked car with his vehicle and continue driving. The Browns released a statement, saying they were "continuing to gather information' and would withhold any further comment at this time.

La'Shard Anderson, 21, was arrested late Saturday night and charged with two misdemeanors -- resisting and obstructing officers, and disorderly household. Boise Police spokesman Chuck McClure says officers went to Anderson's residence ... after receiving a citizen's complaint about a loud house party. Officers arrived just before 11 p.m. and asked more than a dozen people at the party to come outside the home and sit on the curb. Everyone complied but Anderson got up and approached the officers telling them it was his house. He refused to comply with numerous police requests to sit back down. A face-to-face confrontation ensued according to McClure, and Anderson was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Ada County Jail. He has since posted bond and been released. A court date is set for Aug. 2

According to police docs -- obtained by TMZ -- witnesses say Mark confronted his ex outside a childcare facility near Phoenix, Arizona ... where he allegedly proceeded to beat her, put her in a chokehold, throw her on the ground, and then threaten to kill her. Cops claim both Mark's baby mama and young daughter were seen by paramedics for mild injuries. According to the docs, Mark's ex claims she was dropping off court-ordered paperwork when Mark showed up and went ballistic. Mark -- who was allegedly violating an order of protection by showing up -- told cops his ex-GF had tried to take his daughter from his arms. The former linebacker is charged with aggravated assault, endangerment, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an educational institution. He was released from jail yesterday.

Tyler Patrick Thomas, 19, of Kalispell, Mont., was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest. According to information from the Corvallis Police Department, at about 4:51 a.m., police were called to 519 N.W. 14th Street after a 32-year-old woman reported there was a naked man in the upstairs office of her residence. When officers arrived, they ordered him to get on the ground several times, but he refused. Then Thomas, who had reportedly been drinking, got into a "three-point stance" and lunged at the officers, who Tased him. Thomas was booked into Benton County Jail but was released later the same day. Thomas, an offensive lineman, redshirted the 2009 season for the Beavers.

Police say two 20-year-old men, James Chatmon and Rameek Boyd, were treated at a hospital and released. Authorities say no one has been arrested but the investigation is continuing. The victim, according to the report, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries including his nose broken in several places, six or seven facial fractures, numerous lacerations in the mouth, a hematoma of the right temple with swelling and bleeding of the brain, strained muscles in the neck and vertebra, two black eyes, a broken tooth, and two other teeth bent back into the gum. According to the report, Cumbie is six inches taller than the victim and outweighs him by 100 pounds. He stands 6-foot-7, 290 pounds. He did confess to striking the victim.

According to the Austin police arrest affidavit, Benson was at Annie's West bar in the Sixth Street entertainment district on May 30 when he got into an altercation with another, unknown bar patron that left him spitting blood from a cut lip. After staff intervened, witnesses told police Benson shoved a bar worker and was verbally abusive. After being asked to leave, Benson was escorted to the door.

Police say witnesses told them Blatnick started the fight early Saturday by hitting Stephen Denning in the face with a beer bottle. Police say Denning was treated at a hospital for a fractured orbital socket. He was cited for misdemeanor assault. No one had been charged as of early Monday. School spokesman Kevin Klintworth says the university is still gathering information and had no comment. Denning last played for the Cowboys in 2008.

UNI football coach Mark Farley announced the suspension after 22-year-old Henry Obi was arrested on Sunday by Cedar Falls police. The defensive lineman saw limited playing time last year. Obi allegedly punched man in July at Mojo’s Pizza House. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a broken nose, a gash in the face and several broken facial bones. The assault happened on a night when a large fight at Mojo’s and elsewhere on College Hill resulted in eight other arrests. A working telephone number for Obi could not be found Tuesday.

Carr also made non-football related news when Walt Disney World in 2007 permanently banned Carr and three other black Florida State University football players from visiting any of the company's theme parks after officials accused them of loitering in the parks. Under pressure of accusations of racial profiling, Disney officials revised their decision and only banned the teens from visiting Downtown Disney for a year.

The first arrest stemmed from an Oct. 20 altercation in which Robinson grabbed the woman and threw her to the ground, putting her in "fear of the safety of her life, limb and health," according to the arrest warrant. In an agreement with prosecutors, Robinson pleaded guilty to a charge of simple battery and prosecutors dismissed a disorderly conduct charge. A judge sentenced Robinson as a first offender, and ordered him to serve 12 months on probation, perform 40 hours of community service, abstain from alcohol and receive substance abuse counseling. Police arrested Robinson again Nov. 30, after police say he smashed the taillights of the same woman's car at the East Campus parking deck. Prosecutors dismissed a criminal trespass to property charge, and Robinson pleaded guilty to underage possession of alcohol. A judge sentenced Robinson to an additional six months of probation, ordered him to serve another 30 hours of community service and told him to have no contact with the woman. Richt suspended Robinson for the first two games of the upcoming football season. On Friday, Robinson threw the woman off his bed in UGA's McWhorter Hall, picked her up and slammed her on the floor, according to the arrest warrant. He surrendered Sunday afternoon at the Clarke County Jail on a simple battery charge, and is held without bail until his bond hearing today.

At approximately 2 a.m. May 28, the Clemson Police Department received a report of a reported assault at the intersection of North Clemson and Hillcrest Avenue. According to the report, Cumbie assaulted the victim "by striking him in the face with his fists without his consent." The victim, according to the report, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries including his nose broken in several places, six or seven facial fractures, numerous lacerations in the mouth, a hematoma of the right temple with swelling and bleeding of the brain, strained muscles in the neck and vertebra, two black eyes, a broken tooth, and two other teeth bent back into the gum. According to the report, Cumbie is six inches taller than the victim and outweighs him by 100 pounds. He stands 6-foot-7, 290 pounds. He did confess to striking the victim.

Tyler Patrick Thomas, 19, of Kalispell, Mont., was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest. According to information from the Corvallis Police Department, at about 4:51 a.m., police were called to 519 N.W. 14th Street after a 32-year-old woman reported there was a naked man in the upstairs office of her residence. When officers arrived, they ordered him to get on the ground several times, but he refused. Then Thomas, who had reportedly been drinking, got into a "three-point stance" and lunged at the officers, who Tased him. Thomas was booked into Benton County Jail but was released later the same day. Thomas, an offensive lineman, redshirted the 2009 season for the Beavers.

Now it will be harder after 3 "players" allegedly decided stealing a television was more important than trying to repeat. 3 members of the Howard College men's basketball team were dismissed from the team following their arrest on theft charges. Phillip Jackson, Jonathon Landry, and Fabyon Harris were all arrested after shoplifting several items from the Big Spring Wal-Mart earlier this week, including a big-screen television. Head Coach Mark Adams commented to me off-camera his disappointment in the players, who were all freshman, and that he would begin looking to fill those slots. None of the players were on last year's 33-2 National JUCO Championship team. In fact none of the 3 had even attended a practice or a class. None of the 3 had any local ties to the area. Jackson and Harris are from Illinois, Landry from San Antonio. Adams also commented he had no choice but to kick the players off the team.

HORRY COUNTY -- A former Coastal Carolina football player was arrested and charged Thursday with multiple felonies. Tyler Campbell, 24, was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 9:49 a.m. on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and malicious injury to animals or personal property over $1,000 but less than $5,000, according to jail records. Details of the arrest, which was made by Horry County police, were not available. Campbell has not yet had a bond hearing and remains jailed. The 5-foot-7, 170-pound Campbell was a senior for the Chanticleers football team last fall, playing in nine games mostly as a special teams standout. He finished the season with 11 tackles.

Gooden was driving his son Dylan to school at the time of the crash, police said. Authorities say the sophomore from Blue Springs, Missouri was stopped for failure to wear a seat belt and the officer discovered Stephenson had warrants. One warrant was for failure to stop while the other was for failure to appear in court for the charge. Stephenson was taken into custody and later paid bond that settled the warrants.

According to police reports, they arrested Strickland just before 3 a.m. Sunday at Tates Creek and New Circle Road. The report says an officer saw Strickland run a red light at the intersection, nearly striking another vehicle. Investigators say he failed a field sobriety test, including standing on one leg, walking and turning, and reciting ABCs. Strickland refused a breathalizer and had the smell of alcohol on his breath.

The Tahoe did not sustain major damage. Officers noted that Reinking showed signs of intoxication. She was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Valero’s death is being ruled a suicide. Venezuelan Federal Police Chief Wilmer Flores told reporters that Valero used his own clothes to hang himself from a bar in his cell early Monday morning. Valero was found by another inmate who alerted authorities in the police lockup in north-central Carabobo state in Venezuela, according to The Associated Press. He showed signs of life when he was taken down, but jail personnel were unable to revive him and he died around 1:30 a.m., according to Flores.

In a statement, police also said that Love and Huguely had had a past relationship but have not released further details of the incident. During his career with the Hurricanes, Wesley played in a total of 33 games. Thomas was in the 32-year-old woman’s house, naked, and in a three-point stance. Carr also made non-football related news when Walt Disney World in 2007 permanently banned Carr and three other black Florida State University football players from visiting any of the company’s theme parks after officials accused them of loitering in the parks. Under pressure of accusations of racial profiling, Disney officials revised their decision and only banned the teens from visiting Downtown Disney for a year.

Police in State College, Pa., issued an underage drinking summons to Clint Gyory on Aug. 24. He was also cited for public drunkenness and criminal mischief on August 1. Gyory was supposed to don the Nittany Lion costume for Saturday’s opener against Youngstown State. But athletic department officials say he’s been suspended for a month. Penn State cheerleading coach Curtis White said in a statement this week that Gyory regrets his actions.

Gooden, 45, was arrested Tuesday in Franklin Lakes at about 8:50 a.m. after crashing into another car along Old Mill Road, Deadspin.com reported today. Gooden was driving his son Dylan to school at the time of the crash, police said. He was also charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, endangering the welfare of a child, DWI with a child passenger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to notify change of address regarding driver’s license, police said.

And today is no different. The latest to find themselves in legal bong water are a pair of Arkansas defensive backs. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, David "Cheech" Gordon and Hunter "Chong" Miller were arrested Monday night and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Here's the Democrat-Gazette's account of how the alleged dope duo were popped, with our emphasis added: Miller and Gordon were observed by a police officer in a university parking lot lying in the back seat of a vehicle Monday evening. The police officer approached the vehicle and could spell a strong odor of burnt marijuana, according to a preliminary arrest report. A cloud of smoke rolled out of the vehicle when Miller opened the door and a plastic bag containing a "green leafy substance" was found inside the driver's side door panel, according to the report. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, but "lying in the backseat of a vehicle"? Together?)

Police say Denning was treated at a hospital for a fractured orbital socket. He was cited for misdemeanor assault. No one had been charged as of early Monday. School spokesman Kevin Klintworth says the university is still gathering information and had no comment. Denning last played for the Cowboys in 2008.
